National Donate Life Month may look a little different this year, but Life Connection of Ohio’s mission continues in these unprecedented times.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic prompted us to cancel or postpone all of our in-person Donate Life Month events in an effort to protect the health and well-being of our donor families, recipients and their families, living donors, transplant candidates and supporters, we are staying connected virtually. During this time of “social” distancing, we are utilizing “social” media to continue to raise awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation. Our Facebook followers have been flooded with Donate Life messaging and ways to help us continue to spread the word about donation.
Since our Green Chair Donate Life Sit-ins have been postponed, we encourage everyone to take a seat to take a stand on the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation – virtual style! Life Connection of Ohio’s Facebook followers are asked to take a picture of themselves sitting in a chair and holding a sign with their connection to donation or a quote about the importance of donation. The comment thread of the post, scheduled for April 6, will be filled with inspiring pictures and messages from our volunteers.
We also rolled out our LCO Fun Friday posts, where Life Connection of Ohio’s Facebook followers will receive ideas for ways they can show their Donate Life pride.
Another popular Facebook feature is a series of appreciation posts for the amazing people at Life Connection of Ohio who are making organ, eye and tissue donation happen in the midst of a pandemic. We are so proud and grateful for our clinical team, who continue to serve families and save lives.
Stay tuned for more opportunities to stay connected virtually. We will get through this together!
